Something foul is stalking the residents of the New Forest.

And its thirst for blood is growing.

All across Hampshire’s green villages, people disappear, only to turn up days later looking rather drained… of blood. And as the nocturnal murders mount, panic grips the residents. The police are baffled. They don't even know whether they're hunting a man… or a beast.

Enter Vincent and his gang of wannabe sleuths, determined to crack the case before the cops and claim some much-needed fame and fortune along the way.

But when they witness a terrifying attack and barely escape with their lives, they realise they're dealing with something far worse than anyone could have imagined.

Worse still, they become the prime suspects in the very murders they set out to solve.

Now they're on the run from two enemies: one wants to put them behind bars; the other wants to put them six feet under. And neither intends to let them escape.

But the kids have seen the killer up close. They know the truth — and the only way to clear their names is to hunt their hunters.

"I really had no idea what to expect. I suppose I was expecting a more serious horror-based story, but I was pleasantly taken by surprise at the humour laced throughout." Goodreads reviewer

Gripping horror for younger audiences

Definitely would have spooked me if I was a few years younger. Kahn does a good job capturing the carelessness and panic that goes through the heads of someone in deep trouble for the first time with the way the protagonists react to the horror they keep wading further into.

Revisiting This Intriguing Tale...

So, I recently returned to reading this again. My teenage son is also reading it, and has read a bunch of Kahn's books now. It's great to revisit the world of Vincent and his hapless pals, returning to the intrigue and mystery of this highly imaginative tale.
It's well-paced overall, with just the right balance of humor and suspense. Give it a go - I don't think you'll be disappointed.
