Something foul is stalking the residents of the New Forest.

And its thirst for blood is growing.

All across Hampshire’s green villages, people disappear, only to turn up days later looking rather drained… of blood. And as the nocturnal murders mount, panic grips the residents. The police are baffled. They don't even know whether they're hunting a man… or a beast.

Enter Vincent and his gang of wannabe sleuths, determined to crack the case before the cops and claim some much-needed fame and fortune along the way.

But when they witness a terrifying attack and barely escape with their lives, they realise they're dealing with something far worse than anyone could have imagined.

Worse still, they become the prime suspects in the very murders they set out to solve.

Now they're on the run from two enemies: one wants to put them behind bars; the other wants to put them six feet under. And neither intends to let them escape.

But the kids have seen the killer up close. They know the truth — and the only way to clear their names is to hunt their hunters.

"I really had no idea what to expect. I suppose I was expecting a more serious horror-based story, but I was pleasantly taken by surprise at the humour laced throughout." Goodreads reviewer

Thrilling vampire mystery

This was a fun, page-turning thriller. It had great elements of horror, mystery, and humour throughout. I'd say it's best suited to teen and possibly tween readers.

A real page turner

The book flows well, carried by a compelling plot with good pace.
There is humour sprinkled throughout, just enough to elevate the tone without sullying the overall theme of horror which can get truly chilling.
The characters are far from complex, though they serve the storyline well enough, and at a point the pace slows down somewhat, but it does pick up with a gripping climax.

Overall it was an enjoyable story, and a book I could get through very quickly, never tiring of reading the next chapter. Definitely would recommend to teens and older adults.

My next favorite author!!

Don't let the cover fool you, this is in no way a "Scooby gang mystery"!! This book is definitely meant for readers aged young adults and up!! I was hooked for the very beginning and could not stop flipping the pages until I knew how it ended...I devoured this book in one sitting!! There were plenty of horror elements mixed with humor that equally balanced each other out. And of course mystery....lots and lots of mystery and clues!! The ending took me by surprise, which I admit is hard to do since I've been reading horror/mystery since I was 6 years old.

Deviously clever

Vampires and kid detectives - a deadly combination. Loved the setting - not far from where I live in Brockenhurst. Clever plot, interesting characters, and a good few twists. Great fun. I reckon teens and older will enjoy it.

Chilling fun

I really enjoyed this book. It’s funny, but don’t be fooled because when the horror comes it’s really chilling.

I think teens and young adults with a liking for horror will love it.
